| Mission:
Our mission is to create a greater understanding between
law enforcement (Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police
Department) and the lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgendered
(LGBT) community, through open and safe communication,
and education and outreach through creation of this
committee.
Vision: Our vision is that the LGBT citizens
of Savannah-Chatham have support through this committee
and the Metropolitan Police Department to bring awareness
of issues, concerns, and compliments to law enforcement
and can expect timely and un-biased resolution thereof.
Other: Beginning April 2nd, any LGBT person,
or persons operating on behalf of an LGBT person can
go to www.firstcitynetwork.net
and go to the POLICE side button to begin the process.
Information is confidential up to the level of law enforcement.
The committee will assure that the matter gets reported
and followed through correctly.
Outcomes will be made available to the person entering
a report, including what action, if any, was necessary.
PLEASE NOTE: The services that are offered
through this committee are for non-emergency, pre-reported
concerns. This is an adjunct service only and does not
take the place of law enforcement procedure. If you
have an emergency call 911, after that follow the procedure
given by law enforcement. If you feel after that that
your case is not being handled appropriately due to
your being LGBT, contact this committee.
This committee provides no legal advice or legal services.
